Zero Restriction Costumes must not restrict your pet's movement, vision, ability to breathe, bark, meow, or chirrup. If it limits any natural function, it does not belong on your pet — full stop.

No Choking Hazards Inspect costumes closely for small parts, beads, strings, or dangling accessories that could be easily chewed off and swallowed. What looks adorable to us can be a genuine danger to a curious animal.

Stress Check If your pet shows signs of anxiety — freezing up, pinning back ears, a tucked tail, or any other stress signal — take the photo quickly or skip the costume entirely. A happy pet wearing a simple Halloween bandana is just as competitive as a full outfit. We want joy in these photos, not distress.
