On November 3rd, 1992, Dudley entered my heart and my home. This coming Tuesday, November 3rd, we celebrate a milestone that most pet owners can only dream of: Dudley's 46th Birthday — and his 34th Gotcha Day Anniversary.

Healing the Human Heart. This is the chapter of Dudley's story that moves me most deeply. As a dedicated pet therapy ambassador for the Noah's Ark Animal Lovers Group, Dudley has brought light and laughter to special needs children, nursing home residents, and hospice patients across our region. His gift for connection — for reaching people that words and medicine sometimes cannot — is something I have witnessed hundreds of times, and it never stops taking my breath away.
In one moment I will carry with me for the rest of my life, Dudley and Sing-Sing brought a non-responsive hospice patient to full lucidity — evoking a beautiful, unforgettable happy tear from a family that had not seen their loved one present in weeks.
Dudley's legacy of comfort began with my own grandmother. When she transitioned into a long-term care facility, Dudley and I visited her constantly. I watched, again and again, as his presence did what nothing else could: it brought her back to herself, if only for a little while. Animals have a unique, divine power to heal. Dudley has proven that truth more times than I can count.
